Innovations in dentistry are abundant, especially in the field of dental braces. From headgear to hardly noticeable, nearly every component of braces has changed in the past few years and it only looks better from here on out. From the materials, to the styles braces are becoming an ever advancing and easy way to attain a noticeably better smile.
Every child of this growing generation has heard a horror story about the “head gear.” A large mechanical contraption composed of various pulls, all aimed at improving your smile. While the goal of the machine seems commendable, the social ridicule it would bring was anything short of “cool.” Often subject to wearing such a hideous mechanism for years on end, children all around quickly discovered that head gear was their worst nightmare. No need to fear though, times have changed, braces have changed, and people of all ages are smiling easier. From a full metal headset braces have evolved to using materials that are both heat regulated, and stronger. Nickel-titanium is the metal of choice for most dentists currently; a material that invokes the slow manipulation of your teeth, rather than history’s head gear yanking.
As remarked earlier the first type of mechanical teeth improvement created a less than “cool” appearance to its wearer. In contrast the braces of today come with several s style opinions from glow in the dark brackets, to multicolored rubber bands. As a former braces wearer myself I chose orange, my favorite color, as my bracket color.
With the slew of braces changes children are left with nothing to fear. Braces have gone from a mechanical monstrosity to a fashionable and efficient tool one can purchase in order to improve their smile. Braces are forecasted to change even greater in the future, providing users with an even greater experience, a better smile, and the assurance that they will never live those horror stories.
